Meditations - Brown (2020)

This piece is all about balance, most especially between thinner, exposed sections and thick, intensely loud sections. The work is an emotional and painful expression of my love for my first dog, Kaija, after her unexpected and young passing. This work is a true expression of heartbreak, but also of loving memories and fond times together - a cathartic work that helped me process and grieve her loss.

Dona Nobis Pacem (2020)

Based on the traditional short prayer "Dona nobis pacem ("Give us peace") from the Agnus Dei of the Latin Mass, this lyrical work uses simple aleatoric and antiphonal elements to create a beautiful and aurally immersive experience.

Commissioned by the Delbert Anderson Trio and the University Friends of Music for the 49th Annual Eastern New Mexico University POPS Dinner Concert

A lengthy mashup of the Delbert Anderson Quartet's best works from their first jazz album, "DDAT Suite" is a perfect work for a dramatic and entertaining performance. The work pays homage to the Diné heritage of Delbert Anderson, the Native American codebreakers of wartime, and the natural landscape of the Navajo tribes.

Hymn (2016)

The Sacral Trees (2015)

Concerto for Clarinet and Wind Band

Commissioned by Micheal Muñoz for his nephews Jayce Abraham and Jordan Thomas

Grade 6

Perhaps my most monumental work, "The Sacral Trees" is a demanding work for the solo clarinet, inspired by Sam Reese's "Sacral Tree Poems" and my time teaching in Pakistan. A common Middle Eastern instrument is the Clarinet in G, which is given homage in this work written for Clarinet in A (an optional Bb part for those without access to a Clarinet in A is included). This is an ideal work for professional or high level college soloists with a depth of expression and an arsenal of technical mastery at their disposal.

Written to honor Neil Rutland, one of my most influential and formative mentors, the "Violet" movement of "Meditations" is what I can only best describe as a tonal oil painting in the many hues of purple. Common thematic and motivic material is shared by all the "Meditations" movements, but treated in unique fashion according to the color and moods. "Violet" is a primarily lyric work, with a glorious climax. Perfect for advanced high school or collegiate ensembles.

Hailed by David Holsinger as one of the most accurate works depicting death by a young composer, "Somnia Mortem" is a personal and therapeutic expression of my mental, spiritual, and physical encounters with death. Featuring solos for piccolo, oboe, and trumpet, as well as aleatoric percussion, this piece has a distinctive feel while being unique in every single performance. "Somnia Mortem" is a great way to introduce these contemporary elements to your high school ensembles without demanding too much of the players.
